summary write up - Michelangelo

Michelangelo was born on March 6, 1475, in Caprese, Italy. Born into a family involved in the banking business, Michelangelo became an apprentice to a painter before studying in the sculpture gardens of the powerful Medici family. What followed was a remarkable career as an artist in the Italian Renaissance, recognized in his own time for his artistic virtuosity. His works include the David and Pieta statues and the ceiling paintings of Rome's Sistine Chapel, in Rome, where he died in 1564, at age 88

One of his first projects was the ceiling of the Sistine chapel. He completed the 65-foot ceiling alone, spending endless hours on his back and guarding the project jealously until revealing the finished work, on October 31, 1512. Michelangelo continued to work on the tomb of Julius II for the next several decades. He also designed the Medici Chapel and the Laurentian Library, located opposite the Basilica San Lorenzo in Florence, to house the Medici book collection. These buildings are considered a turning point in architectural history. But Michelangelo's big break in architecture came when he was made chief architect of St. Peter's Basilica in 1546. Most of Michelangelo’s work revolved around a renaissance.

The works of Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo influenced the art of the 16th century in Italy and Europe in many ways. Three of Michelangelo’s works such as: The Last Judgment, Pieta, and David were great works during his time. Leonardo da Vinci also contributed great works to the 15st century such as: The Last Supper, St. James in the Wilderness, and The Mona Lisa. Although there were some similarities in Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo’s works, their differences and uniqueness is what made their works great masterpieces of the 15th and 16th century.

Michelangelo impacted art and architecture in many ways. He painted on many important buildings including, the Sistine chapel. Architecture was not his main focus but he still accomplished many intricate structures. He was amazing at sculpting statues witch also impacted his architecture style. Over all Michelangelo was an amazing part in history when you’re talking about art, engineering , and architecture.

log cabin client #3

for my floor plan i kept it simple and open so that it will give the rather small cabin an illusion of a large space. also i achieved this by having alot of natural light.

the exterior of the home is warm and inviting i added a drive way for 2 car parking along with a walk way and a flower bed.

i put in 2 bedrooms enough to sleep for comfortably. a Large and cozy living space and a Large open kitchen. As well as a bathroom and a back deck with a view of a lake and the mountains.

tree house

for my tree house i built it 10' off the ground (from the base). the tree house has an open floor plan which is basically a living room/ rec. room. also i used a safe 2 platform staircase with railings on all sides. for my second exit i equipped it with a fire mans pole. i was a shed style roof with a dormer on top. also i used large windows on either side for good natural lighting. i also put a deck on the rear with a roof that over hangs.

famous buildings project final

photo.JPG
image.jpeg
for my famous buildings project i got the style "living and Leisure". so i decided to make a mall right by the beach. the mall is 2 floors, 2 of which are for stores and customers, the other too are for building storage and maintance supplies. the building is 105' long x 78' wide x 56' tall all ceilings are 10' or higher (the customer area). lare longe windows are used to help save on energy cost. i went with a hiped roof with a large flat area to accomidate the upper floors. I feel this building fits into the future style by: using streamline roofs, large windows, and the grand entrance. also holding onto older architecture styles by: using eaves, quoins that stretch from top to bottom, and a clean park like landscape
